As none of you will remember, my Propex warm air heater was not functioning a few weeks ago.
Propex do a repair service for £180 max, but not knowing whether it would have been a £50 plus P+P or the full £180 (And with new ones being £380, remember this is a 20 year old unit) I wasn't sure what to do.
So I bought an old one via a wanted ad on the forum, which was working, but turned out to be very much older than mine, and with a very rusty old case, in addtion to being a three-wire version, wheras mine has four (Different thermostat)
Half an hour later, I had swapped ignitor packs, and appear to have a functioning original unit, ready to plug back into the boat.
Just awaiting a call from Propex to get a new ignitor, and I'll swap the others back (5 minutes) to get a unit to sell on Ebay.
I may even make a profit
Propex heaters are a doddle to diagnose, once you have a known-to-work unit for spares....
