Replacing a GPS antenna
      06/07/2008 22:51

My old VDO Siemens chartplotter has a rail mounted VDO GPS antenna. It is too old to be WAAS or EGNOS enabled, and is slow to pick up a fix, and loses its fix from time to time. The chartplotter supplies NMEA 0183 output of GPS information to the VDO cockpit instruments, and to my new DSC VHF. My question is, can I simply buy a new antenna to replace the old one, and is so what should I buy to ensure compatibility?
