big splash o the front page, looks very good. Marine federation, RYA etc conbined to state their case regading thousands of jobs, nice write-up, it seemed. Apparently they want a decision soon, and not running to the wire.

" their vessels abroad if the "subsidy" is scrapped, say industry leaders."
I wish they had not used the word subsidy because there is no subsidy and its the wrong way of looking at it. I will have toform a red diesel 'Thought Police' to keep folks on their tracks.
I think even the £3m extra tax raised according to the estimate is over the top - still think it woul be a loss. Bit the question is this ... Is the hassle worth the candle in a political environment where the governement cannot afford to be seen siding with Brussels and there is no money to make out of it, just voters to upset?
An early decision just before the election expected in May would be nice because the upset would certainly not be worth any political cost at that point.

"just voters to upset"
In a class war there are also voters to please.....and there are probably on balance more voters who would look favourably on Labour for removing a perceived (and spun) subsidy for the well-off boating toffs than the actual boat users who will be displeased.
I'm sure TB's election machine has "boaters" along with "country pro-fox-hunters" in the "not many labour votes there" category, irrespective of the reality of individuals views/position/interests.
Remember the first casualty of (class) warfare is the truth.
