Last year 63% of my fuel was purchaced in Europe where I was cruising.
I filled up with Red before leaving UK and run my tanks down to a crossing minimum when returning to UK.
Had I crossed on minimum tanks and filled my tanks for return then 77% of my fuel would have been at EU prices.
Last year in Brighton, on our return from Belgium, we were moored next to French boat. They said they only came across because filling the tanks with red covered the cost of the trip and the UK mooring.
Brighton will no doubt miss the income from these people and their ilk.

And the same reason is exactly why Jersey is building huge new fuel pontoons. Their politicians obviously have more brains than ours.
