Points of interest along the Thames - Forumites Landmarks ......
      #1973108 - 26/08/2008 21:58

Was going to title this places of interest, then Forumites Landmarks. For the newer members I wonder if someone could kindly give me the points of interest on the non tidal, landside and waterside? Byron's Place and others regularly feature, but to those of us not yet in the know......... where are they please? Unless we know the crew are unable to stand to attention and salute as we sail past. They tired at the weekend after little more than fifteen minutes and by that time I don't think we had cruised past any forumites as we were still coming out of the marina! So, had to allow them a rest and concerned as we sailed through Staines that we missed Gavi somewhere. If anyone could save the poor crew from standing and saluting all the time and just allow them a five minutes here and there.......On another note, did anyone else chance on our successful Olympians at the Runnymede Hotel late yesterday afternoon? Quite a celebration (quite rightly) seemed to be in swing and it seemed the news did carry footage from the hotel.

It is generally easy to find me: On board Shikara, in The Swan, in The Bells, or in The Shed.

But I like to idea! Someone did a Frapper (?) map for the forum once... time to rekindle it?

Gavi, you've stumped me already. The Swan I do know, (I think) the Bells (of Ouseley?? I know) but The Shed, is that at the end of the garden or I have missed that one! Or perhaps I am wrong on all counts. But if someone in the know could re kindle a map, now, that would be useful.

Theres some quite good clues in my Forumy Day post

Castle Alexander (or Chez Byron) is somewhat further upriver pretty much opposite the Beetle and Wedge at Moulsford.

Dont just watch out for the Forum Flag....you really should get one then we can perhaps notice you when your crew arent paying attention.

Look forwward to seeing you on Saturday.
