Not doing the Arc but am going to canaries soon, so i can choose anywhere that has decent security with easy enough access to airport and plane back to uk. Yet again, all advice/ridicule welcomed.

oho. Looks quite good.
I suppose i was being lazy and I wanted someone to say "take it from me tcm, best place is Los Doodah, or failing that the Marinas de Las Unpronounceydoblas is ok as well"...

Try Puerto Calero or Marina Rubicon, Lanzarote. Puerto Calero is 20 minutes to Arrecife Airport. Marina Rubicon is at Playa Blanca so about 40 minutes. Both have repair facilities, lots of restaurants and bars etc. No noisy music or similar problems at either.

Very pretty asnd secure marina at Puerto Mogan on Gran Canaria. They even let cats stop there!
Seriously, if you are thinking of going there better book ahead now, good berths in the Canaries get filled very quickly from now on with the Arctics.

I would second Lanzarote..easy flights/bus and actually was cheaper to provision there...and less tacky.

Yep! It surprised us at first, but definitely Lanzarote for us too. Been to several of the islands (La Gomera's the favourite BTW) but for a less brash, cheaper and generally nicer island, Lanzarote's the one.

Take it from me tcm, the best place in the Canaries is Puerto Calero in Lanzarote!!!! We have been lucky enough over the years to have visited most of the canarian marinas and when we decided to return here for a year or two, this is the marina we chose. Head and shoulders above the rest. The fees are reasonable and include water, electricity and free WiFi connection. 35 percent discount on longer stays. Helpful staff too and a nice liveaboard community. Local bar has an informal yacht race on Friday evenings. Good boatyard on site. What more can I say?? Please PM if you want any questions answered. Or try www.puertocalero.com for website, reservas@puertocalero.com to talk to the office about bookings and costs. They do English quite well. Hope this helps.

Havent had a boat in the canaries (unfortunately) however from those I have seen whilst on various holidays I would reccomend "Rubicon" in Playa Blanca Lanzarote. Web page here
