Driving along the motorway, dashboard alarm goes, telling me I have a puncture. Stopped, all appeared OK, assumed it was an alarm malfunction, but I was wrong and the car turns out to be right ! (Fortunately, it was a slow puncture that I was able to deal with at the end of the journey.) How does it do that ? There are no obvious wires/sensors attached to the wheel/tyre when you remove it.

Measures the speed of each wheel (from the hub, so no wires to the wheel when you take it off) - the one that's going round faster has a smaller rolling radius due to pressure drop.

He was on the crest of a wave until he encountered low pressure.

Not relevant to the topic, but initial capitals are very Victorian (allegedly)!

If you have tyre pressure sensors, they need to be calibrated once in a while, and when you put new tyres on, and they can be damaged when tyres are replaced or removed (sensors as deisel says, are in the valves)

When the puncture was repaired the valve was replaced (KwikFit) with a bog standard (£1) valve. Pressed the reset button, drive forward a little way, as per instructions and the system reset. Also no mention In the handbook for any special requirements for tyre replacements The facts seem to fit Notchas explanation. It is the explanation that I find most plausible. Blue Tooth for consumable items like tyres or tyre valves seems unlikely. But either way its bloody clever , but maybe I am just easily impressed. I am from an era when I could maintain my own car with a couple of ring spanners, a hammer and a tin of Swarfega !

Which make and model car, and I'll look it up. Normal valves sit inside the clever gadget bit
I assure you, trying to measure tyre pressure through rotation is fundementally flawed, and all the successfull systems have wireless connection to onboard computer. How are you going to measure rotation against normal values accurately. Far easier to measure pressure, and use bog standard systems to do it, which are installed on many cars now.
