Where's Colin?
      #1917391 - 04/07/2008 12:15

Reading the thread about the dissatisfied DS learner (Moonfleet), reminded me of the absoultely excellent experience my DS practical was - around Septemer 1999, I think. It was run by a chap called Colin, who had his own Jeanneau 41 out of Dunstaffanage. I can't remember now the name of the boat, the surname of the skipper/instructor/owner or the name of his sailing school.

All I can remember was the brillant experience we had:

first class boat
first class coaching
excellent entertainment and food
Really good training

and, of course, one of the best sailing grounds I have ever been in...
All in all one of those memories taht will stay with me (us) forever.

Does anyone know Colin here? Is he still operating? He surely deserves a thanks!

No, not Sula. It was Quicksilver. I have checked now. It was a SunLegend 41 and his company was SeaScape. As I said, it was a fabulous experience. I was already hooked on sailing, but it reinforced the passion and passed on some gems of training that have helped us so significantly onto getting on with our skills.

I'd love to go back there. Maybe one day...

Does anyone know if COlin is still operating? He was a one man band and did an extraordinary job of it. Thoroughly recommended. It was certainly a labour of passion (his day job was something else)
