Information on J-L Fabry fastnet '79 + Revolution
      #1920533 - 07/07/2008 10:53

Hi Folks,
I'm trying to find out more about a Mr J-L (Jean-Luc?) Fabry and his boat 'Revolution' that he came first (survived) in, in class III. Someone once told me the boat was a Comar and as I have one of the same era/size it would be nice to know for sure.

I've tried the google god but he/she(it) has nothing to offer.

So are there any oldies here who might know (I was only 10 at the time) ?

Cheers,

Crispin

Revolution (there may have been more than one) was a regular RORC competitior despite being based in Cherbourg. The team would sail her across the Channel for a Friday evening start (usually off of Cowes or Gilkicker), do the channel races (often going back to France or within hailing distance) then finish off of Cowes, then carry on to sail home to France again. It was probably the highest-mileage RORC yacht of it's era. Not sure about size (about 40 feet?), builder or designer but I may be able to look it up in some older publications. I remember the boat was modded with the addition of a sugar scoop stern and on one occasion they mounted a toilet pedestal on the scoop and called the boat Revolootion. The boat was red, btw.

If all else fails, contact the RORC- their archives will probably resolve your enquiry

Crispin

Have you seen this link? Jean-Louis Fabry's Finot-designed Revolution1973 Revolution
Might have been a previous boat?

Interesting, Thanks for the replies. Our Comet is a Finot design. The Comet 11 plus had a scoop but the earlier comet 11 didn't (ours) It could be that J-L fabry's yacht was simply from the same design stable.

I'll try the RORC.

Cheers.

I'm pretty sure Revo was a one-off, not a series boat.
