That's fantastic! That's ...... more ships than I've seen in the past 2 years! First time I've seen it with google maps, how terribly clever. Do you a think a day will come when ais data will be able to be recieved by satillites (never could spell that) and every ships position in the world relayed via the internet for all to see. Or would that just make being a pirate far too easy! Nice site

"AISLive now covers over 2,000 places in over 100 countries " from their site, so no worldwide coverage. I'm not up on radio frequencies but maybe someone who is will be along in a sec to explain why satalittes (never could spell that) will never be able to recieve ais signals.

AIS transmits in the 161 MHz range, satellites in the 12.5 GHz (for example) range
