I knew there had to be a reason, and of course it is so you can watch dvd's during night watches, or even at anchor. What's your favourite? I really enjoy Die Fledermaus, and Pulp Fiction....

Hey, we could hire a square rigger, get a good projector hooked up to show onto the mains'l, anchor lots of boats nearby with wifi connections for the sound, and it would be just like the good old days in parking lot movies.
Or you could charge the rest of the marina residents a fee for running a porn movie.
Or what about using the White Cliffs of Dover to show a party political broadcast, as the ferries come in ? Might act as a deterrent...

Has to be Master & Commander. Special effects could blow a few shot holes in the sails at the appropriate moments.

A colleague of mine from California tells a story of an overnight race for big boats where one boat held the lead through the night by screening "Bambi" on the front side of his main and porn movies on the aft side of the main.
Apparently the desire to get past this boat into the lead was not as strong as usual!
