Our Royal family is alleged to cost each of us 66p per family member, and there's lots of them - but not if you are an average British boat owner!!
Don't forget that the anachronistic, venal and probably unjust Commissioners for the Crown Estates, extort ever increasing sums of money from mooring holders without doing a single thing to support those moorings or to add value.
The time is long overdue when the Commissioners should hand over the river beds to the County Councils and butt out.
Remember, the Crown Estates were set up to pay the debts of a poxed, dissolute and irresponsible King of England - that debt has been repaid by the people very many times over, whilst our present royal family are maintaining many of the characteristics of their forefathers. Yet they still gather a selective tax that goes directly to the Civil List.
I may be a monarchist - but I abhor injustice.

Cheaper than buying her maj a bus ticket back to windsor castle if she got lost in the centre of London - I'd lend it to her.

And what makes you think that the councils will give better value for money!
The "second mortgage" allowance for the money grabbers in Westminster comes to nearly half of what the monarchy costs and I recon Queeny is better value even with all the hangers on

According to a trusted informant of mine there's very little doubt about that. I would have the whole Saxe-Coburg Gotha clan put to useful work suited to their various capacities. Whatever those might turn out to be.

A number of members of the family in question are known to be or have been boat owners, possibly not very practical.

Nautical content - the bl**dy Crown Commissioners, who charge Hants CC for putting mooring piles in the mud, so that Hants CC have to pass on a bill of £300 and change to me for the 288 sqins of silt 'my' piles occupy. That's over a quid a sqin.

Absolutely!! We lease our mooring area from the Duchy of Cornwall and I'd hate to think what the local authority would charge if it was handed over to them! IMO there would be a very strong chance that it would be leased to the highest (probably commercial) bidder instead of a small sailing club.
No, there are some things that are FAR better left alone!

To remember requires prior knowledge. For the benefit of those of us without this would you care to recap the story?
