Car too clever for me !

Driving along the motorway, dashboard alarm goes, telling me I have a puncture. Stopped, all appeared OK, assumed it was an alarm malfunction, but I was wrong and the car turns out to be right !
(Fortunately, it was a slow puncture that I was able to deal with at the end of the journey.)
How does it do that ? There are no obvious wires/sensors attached to the wheel/tyre when you remove it.
