Some folks may recall that Richard, a very active forumite until recently diagnosed with a cancer related illness, has been undergoing chemotherapy in preparation for major operation.
WHilst never having met, Richard and I have become good virtual-buddies through having identical boats .... and many similar issues!
I received regular updates from him and most recently his father and wife (whose permission I sought before making this post)
Richard underwent major surgery on Tuesday and has remained in intensive care as planned. However, he was able to sit in a chair for a few hours on Thursday and today has had a cup of tea. Apparently he has made excellent progress and should shortly be returning to a general ward.
His father also wrote today:
Quote: "The staff and medical team at Wythanshawe hospital are to be congratulated, through the process they have kept to the time table. during my visits the nurses were very helpful. I met the consultant, he said Richard was behaving himself and was doing well.Intensif care units are incredible with the amount of technology etc. You can only judge as you find. The NHS on this occasion have excelled and worthy of high praise.
When you get back on line Richard, and read this, I hope you will be looking forward to getting back on board and enjoying your sailing !
You obviously have a very caring and loving wife, too!
Best wishes -
