One of the man overboards was from a Laser SB3 on the Needles to St Cats leg. We were alerted by the sight of two yachts turning back upwind and dropping headsails. By the time we reached the scene the MOB was being pulled out of the water by the crew on a Sunsail, using their transom.

We were shocked by how totally exhausted the MOB looked, despite being young, only in the water for a very few minutes, and (we think) wearing a wetsuit. BIG lesson for all of us old F**ts that falling in is not an option in heavy weather.

Well done to the Sunsail guys for turning back, but do be aware of the risk of head injuries in recovering bods up the transom in big seas.
