Regarding thoughts, I have just the one. Set a date for leaving your home port and stick to it, until either you go or something comes along that stops you going. By setting a date you'll focus your thoughts on what has to be done by when. Clearly, leaving your home port doesn't mean setting off recklessly across Biscay in a F10 it could mean starting the journey down channel, etc. It makes (or it made for us) the whole thing real and focused our minds on what had to be done and what was merely a nice idea.
