The main piont about prevailing winds is going to be the run alonth the channel which is slightly S of an east west line. Given that more than 60% of UK winds are between SW & NW that is definatly a 60/40 chance of headwinds along that stretch. Given how veriable the UK weather is though think is is going to ge you whatever you do but have fun
