I don't know the Westerly 33 but a mate bought a Discus last year. Great boat but I couldn't believe how exposed the steering position was. It had the high bridgedeck which allowed access into the rear cabin but the result was, in my terms, a very exposed helmsman.

I would not want to go across the Atlantic in his boat, and certainly not down to the south atlantic.

I would prefer a fin keeled 33 to go where you are going, but I've never been there yet so you need an opinion from someone who has.
