I have a W33 bilge keel sloop. Never been to the south Atlantic, but I've been out in a genuine F8 wind over tide north of Cherbourg, plus a 60 knot gale in the Med. The boat was fine, although I was a bit shakey. They are immensely strong and tough boats, and the bilge keels don't seem to be a problem in any way. Sent you a pm.
