I am inclined to agree with Peterduck. High pressure lines just have to be right - no compromise, otherwise they fracture, leak, or deliver the wrong pressure and upset the timing injection timing.

Maybe not so important on a basic engine like the Bukh, but the length and bore of a diesel injection pipe are carefully calculated to ensure the pressure builds to exactly the point to open the injector at the right moment. The injection pump needs to be pushing against exactly the right amount of diesel in the line to acheive this, so shortening the pipe may adversly affect the engine performance - probably not noticeably so on a Bukh, but even so!
