Fwiw.... Me feels Volspec should have done if they did a leg service / engine service I would have thought. Rant... I had a 'full leg and engine service' done but the VP agent I used (not volspec) didnt bother even though they ticked the box. VP specialist 12 months later also didnt either so perhaps its not included in a full engine and leg service - or maybe I'm a bi thick on the subject ? I'd describe the steering head / grease point as a bit like a stern gland on shaft boats it needs regularly greasing to keep it packed so it dont leak and from my reading it should be removed and stripped down every two years and cleaned down, new bushes (about a tenner) etc as well. Its the thread from a few weeks ago about 'cant remove the steering arm' etc its a bugger when seized in. Builders often also dont allow enough clearance on the boat transom to get at when installing = double bugger. Me feels this should form part of the expensive leg off major two year service that I previously paid for and many others pay for still thats often talked about. With regular greasing, bi-annual removal with cleaning out and re-packing etc it stops the nastys later in life. Rant over. bye. |
