Re: Holiday advice

I think its a sound idea to first go to the Scheldt estuary. From Saturday onwards, life in the Channel is going to be hell. You don't want to run into this:

Suggested ports of call:
Oostende
Flushing (old town port)
Goes!!!!!!
Zierikzee
Middelburg

Make sure you and the crew know how to pass through a lock, as you will encounter several (tip: wind in the back, attach rear rope first)

Note: in bad weather, the safest haven is Zeebrugge. Do not try Blankenberge or Nieuwpoort. Make sure you work the tides along the coast: southwest-setting current in a SW wind is a sure recipe for a vomit comet

After a few days, head back for Boulogne, stop over in Oostende or Blankenberge. Skip Zeebrugge, Nieuwpoort, Calais and Dunkerque. If the tides allow you to get into Graveline, do so, it's nice.
