You could do it in GRP, or if you can get it over there, there's some stuff we have here called Coplast- it's smooth-faced foamed-PVC. Apparently the signage industry use it for board-backings on outdoor signage. You can work it like plywood with wood-tools, bevel it with a router, and you stick it with PVC adhesive like plumbers use for a truly weatherproof white box.
