Philip Hammond MP has replied to my mail, saying:- "I have received a number of letters and emails on this subject and have arranged a meeting with Members of Parliament who are affected, river users, the lock keepers themselves and the EA in the House of Commons the week after next. This will allow us to clarify what is proposed and to seek any necessary assurances. I will write to you and the other interested parties after the meeting has taken place" So it looks like something is happening at a fairly high level! I wonder why Surrey, arguably the worst affected in the 2002 flooding which is generally (although not officially, oh no) believed to have been caused by teething problems with the Jubilee river (ie weir and sluice operations) is losing by far the most property. Couldn't be anything to do with the high prices round 'ere? |
