Now that the RYA has a more open minded view of single and short handed sailing, at least the expensive ‘top of the range’ type , is there any move to incorporate those skills that single handers must have in the Rya’s cruising training schemes? I know it is now possible to get a YM offshore ticket as a solo sailor, but you have to pick a sympathetic examiner. How about making it more widely known? Ian Wright Vertue 203, Patience |

There is no intention of incorporating training for single-handed yachtsmen into the statutory certificate schemes. However, RYA Racing are looking into the possibility of running an annual clinic for single-handed racers in order to promote good seamanship and best practice. |
