Perpetual Quiz (18)

- doesn't have to be hard, just interesting! And while looking for the answer I came across another interesting one:

Who mistook Burry Port for Southampton? (Clue: Realisation dawned when the pilot heard people talking in Welsh)

Answer... S.S. Great Britain ?

What is the significance of Lundy island and William de Marisco

Re: Perpetual Quiz (18)

Quick answer - by an amazing coincidence there is a pub with the same name on Lundy

(Reminds me of a climber there once, who had been climbing in Montague Bay. When he discovered that HMS Montague had run aground there, he said "What are the odds on a ship hitting a rock with the same name then?" He wasn't being funny, he was just thick )

Re: Perpetual Quiz (18)

Long answer - William de Marisco took control of Lundy in the 14th century, after fleeing there after being implicated in the death of a King's Messenger. He built the castle there, and was later captured and tried.

Do you mean Shaldon?

It's opposite Teignmouth, across the River Teign.

Visited last year in our small boat. Vaguely remember some buildings like those in the photo.

Looks like it's you again! The picture was taken during a very high tide last year. I think the creatures live in the rocks and climb the wall to escape the tide. The next building to the left is The Bar (nee The Quay) and behind me was the NDYC.

Im on a mobile connection that doesnt do pictures at the mo but if you go to the picture in your photobox album there is a box with several url / image links etc copy the bottom one by left clicking on it then copy it into your post by pressing control and v.

You will have to tell me if it works as I wont know until I get home on a real computer.
