Ishtar is born
|
|
The old name Peptimus is gone, and the new name Ishtar has been applied.
Many, many thanks to Andy (Csail) for an excellent job on creating the lettering for us. I didn't mak it easy, wanting a weird font, but Louise and I are both delighted with it.

Hmm, those pictures look a bit pixellated this morning. I assure you the lettering was perfect!

Well, Ishtar was the babylonian goddess of love, not that we got the name from that! In 2000, we travelled to Sudan on a two week diving trip, before all the terrorism put a stop to all that, although we were there when Bush was actually elected....
we were on an all wood sailing boat, Ishtar, run by a Yuglslav, and diving the unspoilt waters where Cousteau dived in the 60s, and where he had his 'underwater village', parts of which still remain. I only have one small pic:

Anyway, she was the first sailing boat we ever went on and, despite being in a bit of a state, with ripped sails and a very dodgy deisel engine, she was a delight to be on, and it was a fantastic trip.
So when Louise mentioned the name as a possible choice, it was done.

Oh, sorry, launch day is next Friday. At this point in time, she will go straight to the bottom though, 'cos I'm still waiting for the through hull skin fittings......

My boat is called Lizzy Drippin'! That's the goddess of things that drip presumably. I'll stop there I think!

Skin fittings turned up this weekend after a few very stren words to the supplier - he got one out of 5 right the first time around. Fitted them this morning. She may actually float now. I think I'll get some beer and wine in this weekend and then, once she is safely on her new mooring, we can have our first drink aboard. If you're passing, please come and say hello, and have a drink!
Responsibly, of course!
