Did you leave the marina at about 11:00 om Monday? I had just got some diesel and was walking back to the visitors pontoon and saw you leaving. I take it you went upriver as it was blowing a bit hard going the other way!

Yep. Made my way back to Rhu before the wind went round to the North West. Had a belting sail back with just a small jib up. Just lashed the tiller and sat there with my hands in my pockets most of the way. Saw a sub's conning tower going south and two 8-metres having a tacking duel. Some time later one of the 8-metres passed me under spinnaker and main, followed an hour or so later by its stablemate under tow having buckled its mast; oops!

Re: Spot my boat

We were watching the eights on Saturday and Sunday. WOW! they don't half move. We were sitting in Rhu on saturday afternoon with 30 + knots and the streaked by with full main and genoa. Seriously stiff boats. Hollandia is the light grey one and the other was British. I cant wait to see more of them out for the Worlds.

I had the good fortune to race on 'If' many, many years ago. Wonder if she's coming back. I believe she was found in a barn down south and rebuilt...

The little wooden 'flag/burgee staff' mounted on the very top of the mast which was a prominant feature of Hillyards.

Re: Spot my boat

Donald, I was out and about in my other boat the other day, a wee boat called 'Miss Behavin'. I found a mooring pick up buoy and when I have sold that on eBay I will be happy to buy you a beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not at all. I think she's a pretty little boat and a long way from your AWB.
