Adlard Coles Samuel Pepys RNSA 24?

I wonder if anyone can tel me who designed Adlard Coles yacht Samuel Pepys?
She has been described to me as a C&N design with a 24 ft waterline length.mahogany on CRE Does that sound right?
How many yachts were built to this design?
Regards David

J Laurent Giles, I believe.

There seems to be a sad story attached to the designer's august name.

Re: Adlard Coles Samuel Pepys RNSA 24?

Not sure if Adlard Coles ever owned Samuel Pepys. The class was started in 1948 by Captain John Illingworth, Commodore of the RNSA. Lines were by Laurent Giles, original rig by Illingworth himself. The first boat, Pocahontas was built by Moodys. Others including Illingworth's own Minx of Malham; Dick Scholfield's Blue Disa, and the RNSA club yacht Samuel Pepys were built by Camper & Nicholson. Adlard Coles in his boat Cohoe competed against Samuel Pepys in the 1950 Bermuda Race & then the Transatlantic.
