Dolphin Petrol Engines, Electrics

My Folkboat is now coming up together. During the winter months, I installed a Dolphin, the early version "for'ard", turn off engine, throw switch, go astern, all works well. During installation I "managed" to arc the number 1 coil. Over time, oil has leaked into the battery compartment. This has now stopped. The engine starts fine and has been run for 15-20 minutes. I realise that oil in the coil is used for cooling purposes. Can I run this engine on a regular basis or do I need to replace one or both coils? Does anyone know of the Lucas (or other) number for the appropriate coils? Someone told me that any 12V from the 1960's would do the job. The Dolphin engine uses 24V for start up. All comments appreciated.. Mike
