YOGAFF

Just thought I'd post a piccy from a great weekend. Anchored waiting for the start of Yarmouth Old Gaffers Race/Drifting match.

Spent most of the race kedged off Sconce point until the wind picked up.

Re: YOGAFF

Great pic, thanks.

As this was my tenth YOGAFF I am getting used to the quirks of the wind and tide on the last Saturday in May /first in June. The funny thing is the wind always seems to start just after the race stops. Maybe they should re-schedule to PM?

But then that would remove the fun of listening to the delightful contortions of the OGA committee as they try to find winners for cups and mugs for classes in which no-one manages to finish. This year, as ever, they wracked their brains and discovered plenty of boats and people who ought to get a prize, and so they did. And what good value Tom Cunliffe is as MC.

A great weekend: warm thanks to everyone who had a hand in organising it.

Regards

Chris

Nice one - such a good event. Many, many thanks to all who are involved in making it happen.

The race... a close encounter of the Kelpie kind will forever be burnt into my memory!

Here's a couple more pics:

Alice

Joile Brise and an interesting smaller boat

Various shapes and sizes. The white boat with main and tops'l up, to the left of the commitee boat is Blue Gansey and was the overall winner.

Re: YOGAFF

:-) great weekend. I can spot our mast tip in a few shots - and a tiny slice of bow in the very last one.

i was amazed at the great big boats threading themselves into a packed Yarnouth - top boat handling. At the other end of the size scale, loved the guy who sailed in, then dropped sails and got out the oars. Hmm, wonder if you can row an 8 ton boat....

And isn't Ocean Pearl (the big lugger) an almost surreally awesome sight???
