I do not normally logout which means that if a have a quick peek at what is being said during the day when I come to read things more thoroughly later I only have unread posts indicated since my day time peek. Today I thought I'll just go as far as the main index, which is bookmarked, logout fom there and then have my daytime quick look. However I found that I had not been logged out. I tried also leaving ybw, I tried closing IE as well and I've even tried restarting the computer but no matter what I do I am still logged on. Is it me, am I missing something, or is it like ETU used to be, once youve joined you can't leave. |

Logout usually works fine. So. When in doubt, trash cookies as first option. Usually solves a multitude of probs. |

I have gone via 'user options', 'my cookies' and pressed the 'expire cookies' button. The window goes blank then they all reappear and I'm still logged on! I suppose I can trash all my cookies through 'Tools', 'internet options' but then I'll lose the cookies for other sites as well. In the absence of any other ideas I'll leave things as they are. It isn't really a problem. |

hmm, if you can't trash cookies, that is most odd. You can do it manually, Go to 'start' then 'search' and search all files for 'cookies' You might find several folders with cookies in - choose the one that correspond to the computer username you normally used. Then open the folder, and delete any cookies in there called ybw - there might be more than one. like ybw(2) etc Other than that, hit the notify moderator button and see if Paul Lomax has any insight |

Deleted all the cookies in the temporary internet files folder using "Internet options" in the end. That still leaves a shed load of cookies in the windows/cookies folder though |

ignore the ones in temp folders, it's the permanent cookies you need to look at. If you want to spend the time, you can go through them manually, and just by looking at them see which are worth keeping and which to bin (just keep the ones for sites where you visit regularly, and want to log in automatically). The only reason for having cookies in temp folders is that they are copies of cookies in permanent folders, so deleting them achieves nothing for this exercise though, you need to delete ALL ybw cookies from windows/cookies folder |

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. Deleting those in the temporary internet files folder seemed to to the trick. I've now had to log in to this site and others I normally stay logged in to. |

OK! ![]() Corrupted cookie then. There are no actual cookies in the temp folder tho, they are just short cuts to the real cookies, so something screwed up somewhere. Anyway, glad you are sorted |
