A public appology

I recently made a post on the fuel cost forum in which a directed an offensive comment at Mr John Eads of MDL.

It was a post made without thought, and was clearly offensive and for this I unreservedly apologise to him, and anyone who was offended by my language.

I had been drinking, but that is never an excuse.

Re: A public appology

heat, kitchen, etc, but it takes guts to apologise.

Incidentally, it's a quirk of the (wretched) Google search system that typing "Eads" in to the box, lists a selection of the posts, complete with the original wording.

So one can delete/have a post deleted, but Mighty Google will continue to display it. An amuse-bouche for libel lawyers !

Edit: not that there was ANYTHING of remotely libellous intent in the posts in question IMHO. I was merely noting the delay between YBW's actions, and those of a well-known search engine - which presumably archives every trawl that its robots perform.

again....

Re: A public appology

It's a marvelleous feature of Google that big corporates using pressure to get stuff removed from forums are frequently unable to suppress the info because of Google's cache feature!

Of course, MDL may be acting entirely reasonably by increasing their diesel prices on a daily basis. Road diesel prices have gone up by more than 25% and so I suppose that 77p is not way wrong.

Change of nom de plume or did I miss it? Can you give us a link to this offensive post to save us the trouble of searching for it?

I think Jez would quite like to let it lie on this occasion, he has held his hands up and apologised and I think we should leave it at that.

Point of order Mr Chairman. There's no point in issuing a public apology if the public does'nt know what he's apologising about

I think the magazines should investigate the fuel pricing issues - but its not going to happen is it?

Re: A public appology

I'm keen to see what happens after Novenber when the full duty comes in.

MDL have already contracted to their berth holders to give 10% off.
this will be valuable as it will include 10% of the duty.

Unless MDL load the price of course before they give the discount

If you direct the question to editorial they may be able to offer an answer.

Both Stewart on MBM on Rob on MBY are good listeners

Though an interesting old thread as it reminds me that I had a PM for Mr Eads promising to get back to me with some answers about the points raised. Good job I didn't hold my breathe as I'd still be holding it now....

If memory serves me correctly, it was something along the lines of:

"Gadzooks: fuel for my ship is now 77 sheckles for one bale"

"This is getting beyond a humourous story. They are putting up prices at three sheckles per week. It doesn't compare with the cost of fuel for chariots. I hold the charmain responsible for this piteous state of affairs"...
