Just got my first Tender, I bought it second hand but it has had very little use, looks in good condition to me (but what do I know). It has come with everything but instructions. Do any of you know what order it should all be pumped up in ? It has an "AirFloor" which isn't quite as snug a fit as it could be, im presuming it is due to the order in which I inflated the chambers. There is a rubber bung in the back I take it this should be left in at all times when in use? The engine is a 4-Stroke (Yamaha F4) am I correct in thinking that 4-Strokes don't need any oil adding to the fuel? When the engine is in use should it only be directed side to side to steer or am I suppose to tilt it variably also (as per trimming a leg)? If the tilt is pre-fixed what sort of degree of tilt should it be set to? Will it need running in fresh water to clean it after each use in salt water? Finally it's a Yam 260 with a Yamaha 4hp, is this a good combination and what sort of speed would I get it up to using it on my own ? Thanks in advance. ![]()

In order then partially blow up the tubes, then blow up the floor, then finish the tubes. If it planes, you can take the rubber bung out whilst going along to drain the water. If it doesn't, just take it out when you've lifted the dinghy (its a good idea to have a small hand pump to empty water out to make it lighter to lift) Yes don't add oil to the fuel, but do check the oil level occasionally and store it the right way up Steer by turning it side to side With the dinghy fully inflated run a straight edge along the base/keel, and then set the tilt of the engine so the cavitation plate is parallel to the straight edge, and an inch or so lower If you can clean it after each use, great, if you can't, don't worry they're pretty resilient Yes, its a cracking combination and a perfect ship to shore tender |

Answers to some of your questions are below. What has your poor hound done to have to have that stitch guard fitted? Quote: |

Thanks to you both for the above replies - I will try that inflation method and your other tips Hough CHEERS VERY VERY MUCH He only has one eye left after losing his other to an ulcer. He now has an ulcer on his remianing good eye and the vets are doing everything in their power to try and save it. Poor sod had his eyelid stitched closed for last fortnight, was a crying shame. |

I can get about 15 mph with my 2.2m rib with a 3.5hp 2-stroke so guess you might get about the same, maybe a bit more with more power and a lighter tender. |
