Turkish Transit Log
|
|
Off to Gocek in May for a weeks bareboating with Sunsail. They intend charging me 85 euros for a transit log. Presume this would be adequate for entire summer season but seems a bit steep for 6 days sailing. However if it has to be paid so be it but just wondered if Sunsail have added their own little mark up ? Would anyone local care to comment ?

I think the charge is a tad high. I signed into Turkey on 10.march. The transit log was €19 and the marina charged €30 to do all the legwork round customs, immigration etc for me. This would be roughly 100 turkish liras. Perhaps they have charged you in the wrong currency!

Doing it yourself will take up a morning of your holiday, so if Sunsail won't budge on this cost you may have to swallow it. If you can do it yourself remember the authorities take a two hour lunchbreak.

Some info here: http://www.allaboutturkey.com/boatrules.htm
$30 per transit log, which expires at the end of the charter.
Off to Turkey myself at the end of the week - Fethiye for a week.

Thanks for the useful link, however Gocek does not seem to be a port of entry so might explain some of Sunsail's fee - maybe they have to drive the logs to Fethiye etc

Just returned from Fethyie. I paid around 90 Euro for the transit log; however, I noted that the top of the log clearly stated that it was a commercial transit log - it may well be that the commercial log used by charter companies is more expensive than a non-commercial transit log?
