Wot a stonking day !!

Left Windsor at 0900 - thru Boveney before finally confirmed Sonning was a short term problem. Can't believe that first email with no inkling whatsoever of how major the problem was. Apparently a repair barge had to come upstream from Maidenhead way hence the delay in repairs.

Anyways, just kept going in glorious sunshine and arrived Henley just before 1600 where now safely tucked up for the night.

Should catch up with Geoff tomorrow.

You certainly made the right call in heading up river, albeit single handed. I bet you've pretty well had the river to yourself as well, you lucky git!

I'm at Tesco's, Reading for the night, now.

Today was the first day that I've had to share a lock with other boats, bearing in mind it was late afternoon when I came through Teddington on Monday.

I have to say that, apart from the hiccup re Sonning, the last couple of days have to be about as good as it gets. River almost empty, and no problems mooring. Had intended stopping for a bit of lunch at Marlow but none of the gaps were quite big enough so pressed on.

A wave from Roy May at Bisham Abbey and then Temple and Hurley with no power and no lockie cos lunchtime. A small speedboat was waiting with threee jack the lads so they did the work while I handed out instructions so that was quite easy (did feel a bit old man of the sea tho )

Saw them dismantling the marquee after the TVR and never seen the Henley stretch so empty.
As for single handing the boat behaves very well and more or less stays where I put her - just slowly does it really.

Even the dog has been well behaved - not a single bark since I left Chertsey
