Does anyone have personal knowledge of her?

She was one of the boats I learned to sail in at Langston and the Solent in the early'70s. Back then she was owned by Fred Hilliar, a friend of my school teacher, Ron Outen.

She is a 30 foot gaff cutter with a 14ft bowsprit, over a hundred years old now.

I know she's up for sale and I've read all the write up on her. Now I'm trying to fight the urge to go and look her over. After, buying is just a short step from looking and I really don't have time to look after her at the moment.

Come to that, does anyone know Ron Outen of Emsworth?
I'd like to thank him.

If you don't have the time to look after her at the moment, don't go and look at the boat. It's called "tyre-kicking", and is extremely frustrating for the vendor, who has to give up valuable time to talk to someone who knows that he won't buy the boat. Do everyone a favour, and wait until you have the resources to do a boat justice. Believe me, even then you won't have all the resources.
Peter.

Peter,
Thanks for that. You're quite right, that's why I'm talking myself out of it!

I think that I'm just happy that she is still around as I'd assumed that she had rotted away on a mud bank years ago and hope I someone does take her on. As you say ,it can't be me at the moment so I won't be wasting the vendors time.
Duncan
