Fair point, although maybe the younger ones are a bit daunted by the major posters and threads that they may not understand if they're new, somewhere for them to chat.... It's very hard to find places to talk to other teens to talk to about boating and the forum is very adult-oriented, would tie in well with this family cruising forum if the kids of said families could chat together..?

Young people should be heard - too often we take them sailing and they get bored - if we could show them a general interest amongst their peers perhaps we might get more willing crew

Yes but

I will be pleased to introduce my daughter to the forum, she has enjoyed taking part previously in my name BUT

the more subsections there are the more dilute other forums become.

We would participate should another forum evolve but I am against it.

Well the idea was that there would be a forum to discuss ideas purely related to families cruising together - maybe some meets. It seems to me that none of the other forums have very much to interest youngsters or the skippers that have the youngsters in their crew.

Not a good idea IMHO - plenty of scope for this already - Scuttlebutt and Mobo regularly carry suggestions, info, comments. Proliferation of forums take usually end up taking away a section of posters from SB etc, and results in less diversity. Closely focussed forums also become boring IMHO.

Whilst I agree with you re. having too specific forums, I do however feel that there should be somewhere maybe for the younger boaters and their families to chat.... the kind of things discussed in the other forums, PBO inparticular, wouldn't attract a non-boat-owning youngster who maybe goes out with family/friends or would like to get interested in boating.... somewhere like the lounge, only boat orientated.
