Tried that but still doesn't work.
Interestingly, it appears that the option to use a url doesn't work at all. I've tried with a number of different links pointing to files of different sizes (including a link to the url of my current avatar). None of them are accepted and the page times out every time.
Could you try to see if you get the same results?

Yes, tried that Dave and get the same result as you - webpage hangs, times out and no avatar. Must be a forum software problem. Looks like the only way to use it is to get it resized down small enough to upload it onto YBW and use it that way.

My charger eh? Unfortunately when I tried it, it just hangs for about a minute and then returns a 404 error, sound familiar?
I'll get the sys-admin guys to look into it next week and see if they can tell me why it doesn't work...

Keith, in case you're still interested - another little bug!
I've just amended my "signature" line to include the animated gif. This displays fine in preview but is missing from the final post.

Not a bug per se, just that Kim (when moderating) decided on no pics in signature lines, so the software is set to block them
