Sonic Activation Module
      #1414083 - 12/04/2007 12:23

When I switch on my PC the thing goes through all the motions and the normal Windows screen is displayed but this is immediately followed by 2 boxes. The first one says "Please wait while Windows configures Sonic Activation Module" and the second window says "Load Sonic Activation Module disk and click OK" it then gives a response box labelled "Use Source" and provides a default of 1.

There is then the option to accept or Cancel but pressing either of the options merely loops back again with the result the only way to proceed is to do a Ctrl/Alt/Del and kill the task. After which I can start work.

I've tried deleting what I think is the offending program but it only partially deletes before locking up. It's not serious and I've lived with it for at least a month now but it's annoying enough that I think Brendan should put his house move back by a day or two whilst he sorts it out.

Cheers, Brian.

If Brendan isn't in a position to help you at the moment, you can subscribe to WinDrivers and see if there is anyone on that site that can help.

I've had two problems sorted by very computer literate people on there, and would not hesitate to ask again if I get a problem.

Thanks Philip & Vic - I'll take your advice tomorrow, been too busy working to do anything about it just yet but it's a real annoyance.

Cheers, Brian.

Have you tried Googling the phrase "Sonic Activation Module" and seeing what comes up?

It gives quite a few forums where the problem is mentioned, along with advice on fixes that appear to have worked.......
