If settings won't work, usually best to use the delete cookies option in user options, then log back in and set preferences again.

Thanks Brendan, tried that, still get threaded posts when I've asked for flat. checked my profile, it says flat. It's a bugger it loads all the threads!

As a last resort before getting the ybw techies to take a look, try changing settings to threaded. Log off and back on, then change to flat. Can't think of much else to try.

Did you try expiring cookies and clearing you own cache? Always worth a try.

Just for fun I swapped from flat to threaded and back again (No probs worked perfectly) and compared the cookies that can displayed from "User options". I could not see any differences between those when threaded was set compared with those when flat was set.
Conclusion it is not one of those cookies that sets flat or threaded.
I think you will have to search through the cookies stored in your permanent cookie folder and delete all those relating to YBW. (maybe also those in your temporary internet files folder as well) That is what I have done in the past when I have had problems with any forums. Make sure you know your login details first though and be prepared to reset everything.
More comment from Brendan please.
