Saturday 25th Aug 07 17.00hrs. Heading west off Selsey Bill 3/4 mile from Owers Bouys caught prop on line. No marker visable until dislodged. Very small bouy was submersed covered in thick weed invisable against the chop. Managed to unhook the line without much effort - a close call in unpleasant sea conditions. Noted a number of obscured bouys and semi submersed bouys en route but missed this one completely until it caught us.

Very bad luck, and well done for getting free of it. When we came through the same way this year I was amazed to see pot-markers scattered around a narrow marked channel subject to strong streams and rough seas. Absolutely disgraceful.

The eastern solent seems to have littered with pots marked by clear plastic milk bottles and such like this summer. These are dragged under by the tide at full flood and I've narrowly missed several only seeing them as I passed alongside. cowboys me thinks.....
