Before all the hassle with the forums a few months back, there used to be a link to a marine electronics forum. It never worked for me, but seems like a good idea since it would be of interest to us windbags and you smokies as well. I know that electronics postings should currently really go on the PBO forum, but they appear on the others as well. A separate electronics forum might be better. It would seem to be a lot more use than Sailpower, which seems nearly as dead as the Sailing Today (can I mention that publication on here?) list was when I used to look at it.

The electronics forum proved useful but had relatively light traffic. It doesn't necessarily follow that you'd currently post electronics questions on PBO...there are circumstances when you might want to try forums closer to your core interest if, for example, you are running a motorboat or blue water yacht. If there is a strong concensus that we should relaunch a standalone service we'll certainly consider it as the marine electronics world is getting more complex by the day.
Sailpower is unfortunately not attracting many dinghy sailors across from the parent site at the moment...perhaps they are all out sailing at the moment? Irrespective of that, we can add forums at will but will only do so if we think they will be used and appreciated -otherwise there is a danger that we simply dilute the other forums.
Keep the ideas coming in.

Must say I personally found the electronics forum very useful - in fact it was that that brought me on board initially. Surprised you thought it was light traffic - I thought it was quite good for a relatively specialised topic. Mind you, it managed to steer clear of all the wind up dross so the message count was bound to be lower!
