I did this trip couple of years back from the Thames, Limehouse to Ramsgate 4 hrs, Ramsgate to Brighton 5hrs, Brighton to Poole 5 hrs and returned via Dover, its fairly straight forward. Planning to go round in July for 5 weeks this year before the diesel prices make unviable. Look forward to seeing you at Byrons

I really do hope you can make it. It will be a real treat to meet you after that journey. Good luck and good speed.

Sounds a great idea, Gordon, if you're around.

Is it right I have to stay under 30 knots????
Best slow down for the locks though

Thanks for all your good wishes. This weather has got ot improve soon hasn't it. Still I reckon if it's grim now come May, by the law of averages, it's got to get better.
Got a train ticket from Reading to Bournemouth, don't want to leave car in Poole. £8 from Mr Branson, not bad. A mate going to pick me up in Bournemouth. Hiya Bob.
Got to get some mooring pins, not used to tying up to bank, pop down to Sheriden at Moulsford, they should have some. Can't think of much else I'll need.
Just been in loft to get my Nicholson's Guide to the Thames. Published in 1969, main features can't have changed much. Doesn't show barrier, but I think I know about that.

The weather is changing for next weekend. That's a good price for the train ticket. Sheridan's have some good pins and probably the main difference to the old Nicholson's is that the lock lay-bys have changed sides in some places. Otherwise the Thames still roughly goes West - East. Although I think at Byrons it's North-South!

My daughter looks like she will be in a performance at Wycombe on the Saturday night. Looks like this could get in the way of me making the Rally.

A brand new MDL Thames Map is in the post. Also as a MDL Berth Holder you are entitled to complimentary visitor mooring at Chatham, Penton Hook, Windsor and Bray Marinas. I hope to see you as you cruise the Thames at the appropiate speed.
All the best

Thank you Mike. I suppose you have my details from an MDL data base, that's fine, I'll look forward to the map.
I forgotten Chatham was MDL, might make calling in more worthwhile.
I shall certainly make sure you see me cruise at the appropriate speed, just in case you were wondering, my comments re 30 knots were tongue in cheek
Mind you, may be a way of getting past the unmanned locks. Sorry, tongue in cheek again.
