OK Guyz. What about a rally here this summer? If ppl want to leave their boats for the week and do the return journey the following week, not a problem. Similarly if some want to get here the week before than that too aint a problem. I also have excellent launch facilties and can store trailers too.
If you like the idea we need someone to organise it. Only problem is the dates must be worked out in advance so there is no conflict with Clubs already booked in.

Hi Byron
Would love to....takes us approx 3 days travelling 5/6 hours a day I think so for us would need to be during a wee holiday.
If we can get a consensus on dates I am happy to help organise.

Always enjoy a stopover at Ashmount, whatever the reason. If the dates fit I'm happy to help organise it.

It sounds like a great idea - and hopefully will have time for that cup of tea before hand!
Probably best just to set a date and let those who can make it plan around that?

Your dates are probably the busiest so if the suit you they will suit everyone.... You go ahead and make the arrangements. I need the dates ASAP to book them in. For those that don't know Ashmount House is located about one mile above Cleve Lock on the Starboard hand almost opposite the Beetle & Wedge Restaurant.

Just multimapped it, and looks good to me!
1 day from Reading at a push, or 2 days with a lunchtime stopover at the Swan at Pangbourne.....

It is a mere 2½ hour run from T&K and only 4½ - 5 hours from Henley.

OK I'll suggest some dates when I've had a chance to look at my calendar, I assume a wekend is preferable to most?

I always find that time is a bit of an illusion on the river, but T&K to Ashmount is easily done in a day.
We were one of a number of boats (well two actually) which enjoyed Byron's hospitality a couple of years ago and I would highly recommend the trip.
Best to grab a date when Byron can fit us in and then see who can make it. I certainly hope that we can, and many thanks to Byron for the offer.

Well, some river users are very laid back. We're usually in Oxford (super inexpensive make your own "Chinese" lunch in SoJo) in that time and we're /12 day downstream of the Caravan Park people.
Byron, are all (regular) forum members welcome? You usually shout at us when we pass by...

Really looking forward to meeting some of the Thames chappies and chappesses socially rather than just in locks.
2007 was my first year back on the Thames for about a decade, and I've really missed it.
This is a great plan.

Andrew's old boat is indeed my new boat, and a good solid lump she is too (c:
She is drying out (the January custom?) on the hard at Bell Weir boats at the mo. Depending on how much rain we get over the next few weeks, she will be relaunched in February or March, back onto her mooring at the foot of my garden; about a mile or two downstream from Gavi I believe.

How does the weekend of May 10th/11th suite everyone?
It's the wekend after the Thames Valley Rally if anyone already has plans to be up/down river in Henley.

The way the rain is coming down, she will probably re-launch herself! I'll keep an eye out for you then when you get back on the water if you are near Gavi's place, no doubt we'll see each other oot and aboot. Hopefully catch up at Gavi's second home, the Swan in Staines!

On the Surrey side no doubt
As for The Swan, Mr Brad, that'll be my third home as there is somewhere a little bit closer! Speaking of which, it is nearly 6pm...

Hi All
From a selfish perspective and for those of us that have approx 2/3 days trip to arrive on a Saturday and have gremlins in tow
The following dates are during school holidays which would allow us/those with the same issue to arrive on the Saturday
w/e of 12th/13th April
w/e of 19th/20th April
w/e of 31st May/1st June
If none of these suit and I am happy to help organise anything I can assist with , will try and find a way to get there but just to propose a few options if they suiot everyone and obviously Byron.
Agree we need to fix a date and then go with it else it will never happen so sorry if this complicates
Cheers

I think April may be a little early, I can't make the May/June weekend and I'm not sure Ashmount is available then. Byron asked me to remind everyone they can arrive a week early and/or leave a week later. Just in case people are coming a long way and don't want to take time off work. Also anyone trailing their boat will have launch & storage for their trailers. Similarly if anyone wishes to come by car and/or caravan that's ok too. We'll leave the propsed date of May 10/11th until we hear further. There are other dates available.

The first date (w/e of 12th/13th April) works best for me and my crew of "issues". (SWMBO is a teacher so she is tied to school holidays too).
(All the schools will be back to school for the 4 days following the TVR, Ian.)
Also, the GCSE exams start the week following May 10/11.

May 10th/11th ok for us, however we're only 2 hours away by boat. It will be difficult for many outside of the school holidays.

10/11 May OK for us too... need to talk SWMBO out of a walk on 10th (won't be a problem) and would need to make arrangements for Turkish GP on the Sunday. Neither really an issue
