After several nasty experiences with badly-marked pot lines off the Devon coast, I now carry a long-handled telescopic tree lopper and saw. It has twice enabled me to free deep-sunk lines caught on the skeg or prop, in seconds, from the safety and comfort of the deck. No more need to get wet and cold, or to destroy your favourite bread-knife! The best £20 I ever spent at a garden centre...

I trust that you are not being tempted to nip off the odd marker as you go by them.

My tree-lopper, or averruncator as it is called, is a wee bit long. I'd have it extending from the aft cabin to the forepeak if I tried to stow it.
Neat idea though.
