Vaguely remember reading about one that regullarilly was obscured by low clouds so a shorter one built to replace it. Cant remember where though

Lundy. One of the scariest stairs I've ever been up. One time i went up there was no bannister. Very odd feeling, I actually ascended with my shoulder rubbing the wall.

Dead right! Last summer, it was blocked off when I was there. It used to be a great place in a storm - you could pinch some chairs from downstairs and sit on the light platform, with a beer or several and fantastic views, as the gale lashed against the windows

I heard it had been blocked off. Shame; another fun, free thing off the list. I've spent one night up there in a really vile storm and I concur with you that it is great. The size of those cast glazing bars and the fabulous quality if the class is a joy. Had a very silly night drinking and smoking with a mate. I'll go now and wrack my head for a suitable question. Cheers, nicki

A famous left hand point break on the North Devon coast. Where is it? Sort of sailing question, but with a dollop of surfing thrown in.

Croyde is famous, but it is not specifically a left. The clue lies in the word.... No hang on, clue on request. :-)

Lynmouth has a well-known specifically LH point break.
(I thought the north end of Croyde has a LH break over the reef?)
