I want to leave the boat in the Baleares for 10/12 days in the middle of June. Mooring prefered because it costs less. The official "Ports" web site only has provision for three day bookings. Anybody any info on staying longer or alternative moorings available? Majorca or Minorca.

Hiya, If you are not fussed to be in palma i woul dtry northern marina's Pollensa, Alcudia. Also worth trying Cala d'or Porto colom. I have heard this week that all private moorings in andraitx are being lifted by the harbour master and they will be putting new moorings down but these will be chargeable...

You could try Cala Fornells in Menorca for a mooring. The buses run to Mahon several times a day and then by taxi to airport. However, if you are unsuccessful in finding one there is not really anywhere near to go as Mahon is always full and, in my experience, particularly unsympathetic.
The sad fact of life is that this is a very crowded part of the Med and ALL facilities are at a premium. It gets worse in July and August when even picking up a tank of water becomes a major challenge.
Good luck.

We have left our boat in Mahon on a number of occasions on a mooring. It is only 5 minutes from the airport by taxi or there is a bus. Contact the harbour master Ribera del Puerto on +34 971 354 844 or e-mail ribera@riberadelpuerto.es Emma who worked in the office last year speaks English. Last year it was 19.61 euros per day for a 14m yacht plus IVA. You will need to prepay by bank transfer to secure a reservation.Anyone thinking of leaving their boat there for longer than 10days should be aware that the fouling is very bad! The harbour master will run you in to the quay when you are leaving, and likewise onyour return to save leaving the dinghy on the quay,or you can use Antonio who delivers bread in the morning. In Majorca the cheapest options are probably the Balearics Port Authority who have quays in Porto Cristo (stern to with lazylines), Soller, and Andraixt (stern to with your own anchor out, sounds scary if you are leaving the boat but the holding is excellent and you can always lay out a kedge too). You can't reserve these though and best not to tell them you are leaving the boat particularly in Andraixt. Oh, there is a pontoon in Andrait with lazylines which would suit you better assuming you are less than 12m, again run by the port authority.I have a contact in Andraixt who will keep an eye on your boat whilst you are away.

Things are getting a bit busy by then. I have found Bonaire on Mallorca to be very helpful and accommodating and they may be prepared to take you for a short period. In the season there are regular buses to Alcudia and if you ask around you may find an ex-pat or two who might do a deal on an airport run.

I'm also looking for a berth in Mallorca for the summer, so far I have only been offered the day rates, about 1500 euros a month for a 12m, unless I can move every 3 days. Anyone got any ideas as to where i might get monthly rates.
Cheers.
