We're planning to BBQ on the Saturday night if you can arrange to bring your own food. Byron is organising his marquee and picnic tables. It's always useful to have your own picnic chairs to sit out on the lawn.
The following have shonw an interest, it would be useful to have confitmation. Dhris_D No Regrets Ramage Gavi DWT rr123 Andrew_Fanner NickCred Phill Geoffs
Any others?
Looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible.

I confirm
I shall need directions, other than 'Head up the River and look for the BBQ though, if you would be so kind...
We may be a little late on Saturday due to Work though. 7pm possibly....

After Cleeve lock carry on up-river for about a mile. You will see the boats moored on the right with a flagpole flying the Forum flag. If you get to Sheridan Marine, or Moulsford Prep School or the Railway bridge you've gone too far. I'll pinpoint it on your chart for you at the TVR

We confirm that we shall be there.
No Regrets, we shall be departing from T&K mid afternoon as we have commitments in the morning. If that time would suit you I would be happy to travel in convoy with you if that would help.

Really sorry and very disappointed as we are now unable to attend.
Oldest son is revising for the following weeks GCSE's and eldest daughter has entered a sponsored run on Sunday to raise funds for her ill teacher.
I hope you all have a great time and hope that we can attend a future meeting.
Phill.

Hope to make it. Weather forecast a little less than perfect, but fingers crossed. I'll confirm for certain once in the river.
I can stock up at Tesco's in Reading for Barby stuff.

Well tell your Missus that I got fed up waiting for her to 'do' the Rose Bushes. I was too scared to grub them up and chuck them as I didn't want to incur her wrath. I have however heavily pruned them, we can now walk past the boat house without being attacked by Rose Bushes that think they are Triffids.

Sorry to dither; but i can neither confirm nor deny at the moment!
I was planning on getting a trailer to bring my little viking 20' up, have been negotiating (with someone on the forum actually who has been very very helpful), but I spoke to him today and he is of the opinion, as are others, that the manufacturers (snipe) have ceased trading.

Still intending to come up, unfortunately by car as it is youngest birthday and he has friends over on Sat and James is revising for his exams. So I am looking to escape :-)
What time are people arriving on Saturday?

Sorry to hear you can't get there by boat. A couple of us will be there the night before, would expect others sometime during the afternoon unless we hear otherwise.

We'll be coming by car. Regrettably (slightly), have got leant on to do a memorial service for an University Professor on Saturday so won't be bringing the boat.
Tough, duty and respect prevails.
Very much looking forward to meeting all you guys - especially Byron...

We'll be there. Taking Shikara up Friday/Saturday and picking her up the weekend after (many thanks for the offer of making that possible).
Looking forward to it.
Erm, might anyone be watching the Turkish GP on the Sunday?

We were going to Greece on Friday but as the weather is looking good we thought we'd have a week on the Thames instead. Starting at Bray we I doubt we'll make it as far as Ashmount for Saturday unfortunately but we're bound to bump into you lot on the way back as we're going up! Evenstar 3 is a Sealine S37 (I need a new avatar) with a forum flag atop the radar arch - say hello as we go by!

Folks,
I got a worrying email from the EA this evening:-
Emergency river closure
River Thames – Sonning Bridge
Thursday 8 May from 2pm The River Thames at Sonning Bridge, near Reading will be temporarily closed to all boats from 2pm on Thursday 8 May for emergency repairs to the centre arch of the bridge. Boaters will be advised as they go through locks leading to Sonning and there will be a patrol boat stopping boats coming upstream from Shiplake Lock. We will do all we can to minimise the length of the closure and apologise for the disruption this will cause to our customers. Very sad news considering the event in question...
Lucky for us, we're above Sonning, and heading upstream...

Right 40 knots through Henley got to get to Sonning before 2:00pm. What a buch the EA are, less than 24hr notice. I could have pushed on more today if known sooner. I'll be a bit cheesed off, if, having come all this way, I can't achieve my objective.

Brilliant !! NOT!
Inspired by geoffs epic trip from Poole, I set off single handed from Chertsey at around 2pm today and am now moored at Windsor. Intention was Henley tomorrow and then on to Castle Alexander on Friday.
So, I guess my next move will depend on early info tomorrow as to how long the closure will be in place

So where is the bit that says if your river cruising pleasure is severly disrupted then a licence rebate can be applied for!
If I was hiring from Fry's Island in Reading right now and planning to go south I would be mighty pi$$ed off.
Eileen, I've seen the EA minutes whereby riverside /bank and tree inspections are being conducted by mini-bus- - how on earth can you conduct proper inspections by mini-bus?

I assume the word "emergency" in the phrase "Emergency river closure" would imply that they aren't just doing it to p1ss us off...

It looks like my contingency plan of mooring at Henley and taking the train might come into play! How's the dog?
