I would say Tower bridge at the full force of the tide going out is like red boards X10 . I have tried to punch the tide at Tower and no go , but have taken Cuchilo back to her mooring in full flood fairly easy . Red boards are easy compared to Tower ! The problem you will have is the wash you give off on the non tidal .

Well , it might be 10x when we first get onto red boards , but when we start really getting into red board territory and we start operating the roller sluices ( the big arches on the weir at Teddington ) then i'd wager that the weirstream here would be the scarier place to be

Theres a nice cruiser on the lock moorings at the moment ...
The guy who owns it must also own a blue LED manufacturing company !! It looks like a little spaceship ...

Years ago , i used to have a little speedboat at Teddington , and we used to wait until one of the London boats ( Connaught , Kingwood et al ) had gone downstream about 20 minutes before and then chase it down.
The London boats put up a hell of a groundswell behind them , and you could literally skip from swell to swell ( Miami Vice stylee ) , then when you came up behind it at about 30 knots , you line yourself up and have a big jump across its rear quarter and then past it ...
Used to scare the hell out of the passengers and make some of them quite wet !!
The Merrie Thames was another good boat to chase too ....

Any idea how long the red boards are likely to be out, given that the forecast seems to be for showers but not heavy prolonged rain. Got to make a decision whether to press on or not, weather in channel not fanastic either.

I'll be at winsdor on sunday. I don't care what colour the boards are. I don't believe the nonsense about insurance. I'm insured for la cap de la hague at spring tides, that is definately worse than an eyot with a red board. 400+ hp will punch the steam.
